Your new gerbils will arrive with a go-home packet

Be sure you have a habitat ready before you come pick up your new gerbils.

When you arrive

When you arrive you will have already gotten your food and housing set up at home. You can bring your entire tank in your car with you to pick up your new pets, and I will bring them out to you. Alternatively you may bring a travel container, we recommend Kritter Keepers or a thick plastic alternative. Glass is better. Do not bring a cardboard box, this is not enough to keep a gerbil contained and they will chew free in a matter of minutes. If you are not able to find a travel container we can provide one at cost for you. This will be added to the price of your gerbils and is generally $18-25.

Please text the number provided to you or PM / Email when you get here, I will come out and say hi and go through your go-home package. If you have names picked out for showing or breeding please email that information to me so I can fill out your paperwork. Otherwise gerbils will be assigned names for registration purposes. You can call your gerbils whatever you'd like! Show names help breeders keep track of their offspring.

Once we bring our your gerbils I will either hand over your travel container or I will bring out my own with your gerbils inside and transport them directly into the tank in the car. Always put all the bedding in their new environment, as this will help them associate the new area with home.

Put your gerbils in a low-traffic room with the tank out of direct constant sunlight. Speak at normal volumes but take care not to make loud noises for the few days of your gerbils' time with you. After about a week you can walk in and begin to talk around the gerbils. You can move them to their permanent area and begin to visit with your gerbils. NEVER grab your gerbils, allow them to come to you. Sunflower seeds are great treats, as are veggies.

You will see your young gerbils blossoming into more social creatures within about a month, but please give the younger guys time to settle in. We have taken them from a rather large family, so this is quite a scary experience for them. Time and patience will allow for an excellent and fear-free relationship with your new gerbils.
